More about Jiffy Green Bags

Jiffy Green bags are part of the long-established Jiffy® brand — the original paper padded mailer. They use a macerated recycled-paper core sandwiched between two layers of strong kraft paper, giving cushioned protection without any plastic bubble or foam lining. Because the whole bag is paper, it's recyclable in the same kerbside collection as cardboard.

Strong and burst-resistant. The Jiffy construction is built for durability: a double-glued bottom flap and a central glue seam with no vulnerable side seams, which makes the bags exceptionally resistant to bursting and puncture. The dense macerated-paper core traps air for cushioning and doesn't pop or deflate the way a bubble lining can, so they hold up well even for heavier items like metal parts and tools.

Reusable — again and again. Reusability is the Jiffy Green's standout feature. The tough paper construction means a bag in good condition can be used many times before it's eventually recycled. Jiffy's own famous example: one of their original padded bags travelled back and forth between pen friends in the UK and New Zealand 50 times, clocking up around a million miles. For businesses, that durability means fewer failed deliveries and a genuine reuse story to share with customers.

Recyclable, single-material. With no plastic lining, there's nothing to separate — the whole bag goes in the paper recycling. That single-material construction is also why it sits in a lower EPR fee category than a bubble-lined mailer, which is assessed as a two-material composite. (For the full picture, see paper mailing bags and EPR fees.)

Made from recycled kraft. The 90gsm kraft outer is 100% recycled, and the adhesive is a natural starch-based glue — so the bag is paper through and through.

Quick to pack. Like the original Jiffy bags, the Green range has a self-seal closure strip, so you can pack orders and samples quickly without plastic tape or gluing. If you do tape parcels, pair them with paper tape to keep the whole parcel recyclable together.

Part of our wider EPR-friendly packaging range — recyclable, lower-fee alternatives across mailers, boxes, protective packaging and tape.

CUSTOM JIFFY GREEN BAGS

Jiffy Green bags are a stock-brand product, so custom printing options are limited compared with our own custom printed paper mailing bags — if branding is a priority, our own paper mailers may suit better. For advice on the right option for your orders, get in touch with our team.

Frequently Asked Questions about Jiffy Green Bags

What are Jiffy Green bags? Jiffy Green bags are a strong, reusable, all-paper padded mailer from the Jiffy® brand. A macerated recycled-paper core is sandwiched between two kraft layers for cushioning — with no plastic bubble lining.

Are Jiffy Green bags recyclable? Yes. They're made entirely from paper — a macerated paper core between recycled kraft layers — so they're widely accepted in kerbside paper recycling, the same stream as cardboard. There's no plastic lining to separate first.

Are Jiffy Green bags reusable? Very. Reusability is their standout feature: the durable paper construction means a bag in good condition can be reused many times before recycling. Jiffy's own example saw one bag reused 50 times over around a million miles.

What are Jiffy Green bags made of? A 100% recycled 90gsm kraft outer, a macerated recycled-paper core for cushioning, and a natural starch-based adhesive. They're an all-paper product.

Do Jiffy Green bags lower my EPR fees? They can. As a single-material paper product they sit in a lower EPR fee category than a bubble-lined mailer, which is assessed as a two-material composite. See mono-material mailing bags and EPR fees.

Are Jiffy Green bags as protective as bubble mailers? For most items, yes — the macerated paper core cushions well and is especially good for heavier, robust items like tools and metal parts. For very fragile or delicate goods, add paper-based protection such as paper void fill or use a cardboard box.

What sizes do Jiffy Green bags come in? The range covers popular padded-bag sizes, from small (documents, accessories) up to larger sizes for clothing, books and bulkier items.

Are Jiffy Green bags biodegradable? The kraft paper is biodegradable as a material, but recycling is the route we'd recommend — paper is widely collected at kerbside, and recycling keeps the fibre in use. (We describe these bags as recyclable rather than compostable, in line with the manufacturer's own information.)

Are Jiffy Green bags suitable for international shipping? Yes, for both domestic and international post — their strength and burst resistance make them dependable over long distances.

Can Jiffy Green bags be custom printed? Custom printing on the Jiffy Green brand is limited. If branding matters, our own paper mailing bags offer fuller custom-print options.
