Sustainable packaging is packaging that is sourced from renewable sources, and sources that are managed and protected responsibly like FSC certified paper products and starch based plastics. By using sustainably sourced packaging, you know that you aren't using packaging that has done irreparable damage to the environment, like using non-renewable oil or cutting down virgin forests for producing paper. We all have a responsibility to conserve the earth's resources, so by using packaging manufactured with responsibly sourced materials you can do your bit and have peace of mind that you are helping the environment. Sustainable packaging also includes recycled packaging, by using packaging materials that have been recycled you are not using a virgin product but one that has been remade into something useful rather than ending up as waste in landfill.
FSC® Certified Sustainable Packaging MaterialsFSC® certified sustainable packaging materials are packaging materials that have been certified by the Forest Stewardship Council. This means it has a complete chain of custody to prove it has been manufactured using materials that have been produced in an environmentally responsible and socially beneficial manner. FSC® certified paper means that the trees and plants used to make the paper have been taken from managed forests in a responsible way and have not detrimentally impacted the local environment. You can buy packaging that has both full FSC certification or FSC Mix certification, this means your packaging uses 100% FSC® material or partly uses FSC® material respectively. When buying custom printed FSC® certified products you can also print the FSC label on your boxes to show your customers you are committed to sourcing responsibly. You can also get FSC Recycled packaging which means that it is certified to have 100% recycled fibre content, so not only is it responsibly sourced it is fully recycled as well.
